Yahoo! Search Marketing

Yahoo! Search Marketing

Use it if you:
- Have a very attractive and easy to use  website.
- Are comfortable with PPC.
- Are successful on Google.
- Plan on spending $10,000 or more a month on pay per     click advertising.

Avoid it if you:
- Do not have a good conversion rate with PPC (the high      bid prices will kill you).
- Are a small business that needs a lot of attention.
- Bid on highly competitive keywords (“mesothelioma”      was once around $90 per clickthrough).

Originally known as GOTO, and formerly known as Overture, Yahoo! Search Marketing was started in 1997; making it the original pay per click company. Yahoo! Search Marketing is also the largest pay per click company on Earth, offering geographical targeting and millions of queries within North America and throughout the world.
Since the official move from Overture to Yahoo! Search Marketing in the spring of 2005, their website has been less friendly to new users, but their online account is easily one of the best in the industry.
Yahoo! will remove your listing (on an individual keyword basis) if they are not performing well. This encourages you to broaden your keywords which generally results in less relevant traffic.
Yahoo! Search Marketing’s customer service is rather quick to respond to emails, but calling you might find yourself on hold for some time. Yahoo! Search Marketing's worst feature is that you must contact customer service to have the automatic account funding feature removed, and that removes your daily budgeting ability. As with most pay per click companies, Y!SM clients who spend a large amount of money receive special treatment.
Each pay per click company is best used at certain stages of advertising and for certain sized companies. Yahoo! Search Marketing is the exception and works well for everything from new small businesses to seasoned Fortune 500 companies. There are a lot of people that complain about Google Adwords because of all the unknowns. When it comes to quality of traffic, we comfortably say that Yahoo! Search Marketing has the highest rate of customer satisfaction.
